You use the whole sachet to make up a starter solution – add to 1 litre of milk. Once you have made the starter solution you add two tablespoons (30ml) of starter solution to 1 litre of milk. Out of a litre of starter you get around 33 batches, though you can also use a little of the made yogurt (2%) to re-culture the next batch.
